Summer Reading

Dear Parents,

Summer reading is very important to your child’s academic success. Studies have shown students who read over the summer achieve higher reading levels and score higher in standardized tests. Studies have also shown that students who do not read over the summer lose reading fluency and are likely to fall behind in the classroom.

We want to ensure that every child has a chance to read so Baldwin Academy has made the following books available in the front office:

  • Red: Crayon’s Story by Michael Hall
  • The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate
  • Hello Ruby: Adventures in Coding by Linda Liukas

The front office will be opened Monday to Thursday from 8 am – 5 pm, May 30th through June 15 and July 17th until August 8th.  Please drop by any time during these hours to pick up a copy for your child to read.

There are also summer reading programs available at your local library where your child can earn rewards for reading!  We hope that you will encourage your child to read over the summer months. We look forward to seeing your enthusiastic reader in the fall.
